“At the age of 12 I wasn’t playing with GI Joe, I was collecting Art Deco clocks”

Arren Williams is a renowned designer and interior stylist whose influential career in the design world can be tracked across magazines, newspapers and television for the last two decades. Style is in Arren's DNA, and he definitely started honing his eye for style when young. “At the age of 12 I wasn’t playing with GI Joe, I was collecting Art Deco clocks,” he explains.

After a 4-year stint as the Creative Director for Home for Canada’s historic Hudson’s Bay department stores, he and his husband moved to Portugal on sabbatical. While there, the pair founded Casa Cubista, a collection for the home centred around a contemporary take on traditional Portuguese craft. That collection continues to grow and can now be found in more than 100 stores worldwide, including locations in LA, London, Paris, and Seoul. In April of 2022 he and David were proud to launch a special Casa Cubista collab with Monoprix in France, offering a capsule collection of menswear, womenswear, beach and home.

These days he works freelance on design projects for a range of high-profile clients, and in early 2019 was proud to launch a collection for the home available exclusively at Hudson’s Bay, which has been expanded to include custom Canadian-made upholstery manufactured by Statum, and rugs, wall decor and lighting with Renwil. In the spring of ‘21 he launched a special limited edition collaboration with Hudson’s Bay. Arren Williams X Hudson’s Bay offered an exclusive collection for bed, bath and beach, including duvet sets, throw blankets, shower curtains and beach towels in bright colour and bold patterns.

In fall of ‘22 he launched a new collection with Renwil with a fresh and contemporary take on design essentials for the home, including artwork, wall decor, mirrors, lighting, decor accessories and rugs. In January of 2023 the collection was expanded to include even more design-forward product - The Renwil collection is available across North America through designers and select retailers, view here.

Arren continues to work with private clients on design projects. Project Blythwood was featured in House & Home magazine in the spring of 2020, and was nominated for House & Home’s 2020 Home of the Year, Best Kitchen, Best Bathroom, and Best Dining Room. See that interior here. He was also proud to be included on the inaugural House & Home’s H&H 100 list of Canadian design talent, read more here. You’ll also spot Arren speaking to design and trends on Citytv’s Cityline, where he has been regularly appearing as a Guest Expert for the past two decades. In March of 2022, he was excited to launch a regular column with Style at Home magazine that explores ‘design classics’ and their enduring influence. In the April/May issue of 2023 the magazine published Project Mill Run (see here), which was also featured on the magazine’s cover (see here).

When he’s not working, he and his husband David spend time relaxing with their two dogs, Spot the Whippet and Alfie the Galgo.
