{giving it} Tivoli Model 10 Clock Radio

{giving it} is all about my take on what makes a good gift. Every day I blearily wake up in the shower to the dulcet tones of a weather-proof Tivoli PAL radio, so I'm thinking that perhaps it's time to replace the infernal beeping of my alarm with something more soothing, aka their Model 10 Clock Radio. Love the simplicity of the design, and well, I'm already sold on how good a Tivoli sounds, so I guess it just comes down to colour? The Model 10 is available in 6 finishes (the anodized aluminum below is my pick), plus 3 fancy-schmancy designer finishes. Click here to find out where to get your hands on one.

{giving it} Sukat Makkaralla glassware

{giving it} is all about my take on what makes a good gift. Today I have kitchenware on the brain, since I've been pulling together a look book for a kitchen shoot next week. And that's when I stumbled on Marimekko's latest line of glassware - Sukat Makkaralla. What the what? Yep, the name is kind of a mouthfull, but translate it from Finnish to English and it means "socks with sausage" or - I think this probably conjures up a better visual - "socks rolled down", which is what inspired designer Anu Penttinen to give the colourful glassware its ruched design. Click here to get in touch with Marimekko Vancouver, who'll happily ship just about everywhere.

{giving it} Owl table lamp

{giving it} is all about my take on what makes a good gift. I spotted this little chap in West Elm the other day while I was checking in with Alex Bates, West Elm's creative director, hearing all about what'll be in store for Spring and Summer (believe me it's lovely, keep an eye out for more on that front soon). Anyway, back to the Owl table lamp - I think it's super-duper cute and would look completely charming just about anywhere. And I don't know whether I really have to say this, but almost anyone I know would love to get a table lamp for a prezzie.

{giving it} Breville Dual Disc Juicer Processor

{giving it} is all about my take on what makes a good gift. I have a very good friend (hello SP) who is an absolute health nut and is constantly cajoling me into drinking 'healthy' freshly juiced concoctions involving wheat grass and kale. Yep, I know they might be good for me - oh, all those antioxidants. let alone getting more alkaline - but the taste, well, just lets say it's an acquired thing. So, I was uber-happy to hear that Breville's handsome new Dual Disc juicer can handle all the wheat grass and kale that SP can throw at it, plus it can also do soft fruits like berries and such to create fresh smoothies. Now that's more my cup of tea. Click here for more info.

{giving it} Cromwell & Cruthers shave oil

{giving it} is all about my take on what makes a good gift. Since I've been travelling so much we're starting off with an absolute essential - and great little stocking stuffer - Cromwell & Cruthers shave oil. Made of essential oils this little bottle will replace a can of shaving foam in your luggage (always an unwieldy thing to shove in a suitcase) or sit pretty in your medicine cabinet, and it only takes a dime size of oil for a perfectly close shave. Click here to find out where you can get your hands on it.

{Giving it} Kiehl's Creme de Corps x KAWS

Giving it is all about my take on what makes a great gift. Okay, perhaps I'm a little over excited this morning (it's either the shot of espresso I just downed or the fact that my guest post just appeared here on Elle Decoration South Africa's lovely blog) but I'm totally digging the mash up between Kiehl's and the grafitti artist KAWS on the Creme de Corps moisturizer. This cool meeting of the minds is all in aid of an admirable US children's charity called RxART, which is all about getting art into hospitals. In fact, if you hop on over to the Kiehl's website you can also catch this limited edition RxART contemporary artists colouring book and crayon combo. Hey, and whether you decide to go for the limited edition Creme de Corps moisturizer, or the colouring book, all net profits go straight to RxART.

{Giving it} Virginia Johnson for Hudson's Bay Co.

Giving it is all about my take on what makes a great gift. Phew, since last week my brain has been totally wrapped up in creating an overgrown English garden in a studio for a book cover shoot. Fun and lots of work... Anyways, back to gifting! I am a huge fan of Canadian designer Virginia Johnson, and just love her point of view, whether it's illustrating a book for Kate Spade or creating printed fabrics that always feel loose, fresh and summery. So, you can guess I was super happy to discover she'd created a special lightweight scarf smothered in bright and sketchy elks as part of HBC's new Hudson's Bay Company Collection. If you fancy one, or fancy giving one to a v. special person, then check out the full collection at The Bay's Queen Street location (yep, along with Best Made Co's point blanket inspired axes).

{Giving it} Zoku Quick Pop Maker

Giving it is all about my take on what makes a great gift. Okay, I don't care whether it's minus whatever outside, I think the Zoku makes a brill present. In fact, it can make frozen pops in as little as 7 minutes. Seriously, an iced up chocolate fudge, latte and Baileys number would totally sort me out or even, ahem, something healthier with fruit. For more info, and to check out a demo video, click here. The Zoku Quick Pop Maker is available at Williams Sonoma.

{Giving it} Krouvi Beer Mug

Giving it is all about my take on what makes a great gift. Here's the first off the block, the Krouvi Beer Mug. Designed back in 1973 by Finnish master glass designer Oiva Toikka the Krouvi is all hefty workaday simplicity, marked by that lovely pebbled texture and crisply stamped with a 50cl mark (so you know exactly how much organic brew you've downed). Oh, did I mention it's made by Ittala, is freezer-safe, and that it's on the shelf at Crate & Barrel for under $10? I'll take a half dozen please...
