Ask Arren > Grey

Hi Arren,
Whats your favourite grey paint colour? I've made the mistake of painting a bedroom with a modest amount of a light warm medium grey and I found that room to be a bit depressing. I still love grey, BUT, im looking for a happy cheery cool light grey for my dining room- any favourites? I'm think of pairing a havest table and a nelson bubble lamp in this room. THX.

Hi SF, Most of my favourite grey paints come from either Ralph Lauren or Farrow & Ball since they have such a lovely depth of colour (I'm using the v. dark RL Palais Royal in our media room), but let me see if I can suggest a couple that are perhaps a bit paler for you -

In Ralph Lauren I'd take a look at Grand UL49, Loft Living UL41, Stone UL21. And in F&B I'd suggest Pavilion Gray, Blackened, French Gray. They range from pale to darker and warm to cool so I'd suggest picking out a few faves and then painting a sample up on the wall.
