About

Arren Williams is the name, and I'm a stylist, editor and trend reporter. You'll catch my work regularly popping up in print in the likes of the National Post, House & Home and elsewhere. I'm also a guest expert on Citytv's CityLine, and you can occasionally find me on HGTV as well as on ABC 7 News in Chicago.

To keep things fun I've tapped a couple of friends - Julia Black and Jenn Hannotte - to contribute their views on design too. Enjoy!

Ask Arren > paint colour

Please help me out!!! My living/kitchen/dining room is painted in Benjamin Moore Wilmington Tan but I find it too yellow for the space and would like to go with a complete different colour....any suggestions? My floor is a light maple hardwood, furniture espresso and couch green, mocha colour...please any ideas?

Hi Mimi! I think your best bet is to paint samples of 3 or 4 colours on your walls and live with them for a while. Unfortunately i don't have my Benjamin Moore fan deck to hand (I think it's already been packed for the move) so I'm going to make some suggestions for you from Ralph Lauren instead -

Crab Apple
Sisal
Cotswold Breeches
Hampton Court

All are in the cool beige family, without much yellow to them, and will hopefully be a good alternative to Wilmington Tan for you!

Good luck, Arren
