Ask Arren > Paint colour for door and shutters

Hello! I sure hope you can help me. I have a brick house in the colour of AF-360 farm fresh (BM) but its more of a dirty colour. Everything else (roof, trim, window trim, shutters, door, eves) is brown, similar to AF-180 wenge. My question is, can I paint just the shutters and the door and not the window trim? My next question is what colour would you sugest? I'm very open to colour, I was thinking something gray, gray green or gray blue but I'm very excited at just the thought of any colour other than brown. ANY suggestions would sooo be appreciated! Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!!!

Hello! Yes! I think you should definitely go with a colour for your shutters and door, and it'll be just fine to leave your trim well alone. For the colour, I'd look at finding a darker grey that has some depth and warmth to it (so it'll relate back to the other colours you have going on). One suggestion would be BM's Trout Grey 2124-20, but I would definitely pick a few more tones, paint a few sample boards, and lean them up around the house before you make any final decisions.

Hope that's a bit of a help!

Cheers, Arren

Thank-you for your time! I'm going to send some pics of the house so you can see the before and after. What color would work for the front door? It needs to be replaced (ugly) but that will just have to wait a bit longer but color would help punch it up. A lot of the doors in the area are in red tones which I like but would you sugest a new fresher color? Again thanks so much! I can't wait to hear from you!!!!!
