Is it #1, or #2?

I'm having a table lamp dilemma. Last week, while sourcing vintage suitcases for a book cover shoot (not an easy task, I might add) I came across a crazy cheap - and fantastically lovely - table lamp at Goodwill. Then, about an hour later, I scored a brand spanking new never used vintage drum shade at the Sally Ann. Talk about kismet! I have a home for it, but it means I'll have to say buh-bye to a great lamp I already have.

Okay, so first up is the one that's been sitting pretty on that side table for quite a while. The base and silk shade are from Restoration Hardware. Next is the vintage lamp and shade I just couldn't say no to. The base was $10 and the shade $4, while the Resto lamp probably came in at a slightly pricier $300, or so. Which should stay and which should go?

I'm feeling # 2. I like the presence of the shade.

I vote - keep them - top one for fall-winter and the bottom one for spring-summer.

I have to say I like your Goodwill and SA find!!! I just think the base and shade is very glam and suits the room (which I love by the way!). Could you move the Restoration Hardware lamp somewhere else?

My vote is for the fabulous Goodwill and SA find! Love the character and its one-of-a-kind charm.

It's the first one for me, Arren! Hope you are well!

I say keep #1. Both the shade and chrome on the base provide nice contrast in the space.

I much prefer the top one. Good luck deciding.

Hm, I love the dark shade ... but I love the swirls in the Goodwill base ... I don't envy your decision. I suppose if forced to choose, I'd go with the top one though.

Keep #2! Keep #2!

Number two!!!!!!!!!!

It's all about #1 for me but I say keep #2 tucked away in the basement. You never know when you'll find a need for it!

the vintage one has way more character and the proportions suit the space.
#2 for me no question!

The first one

Well, you've got the best of both worlds. I really can't pick. Then I though why should you have to pick?

Both lamps have their charm.

My only suggestion...if you really do have to pick...sell the RH one on kijiji or CL so you can buy something you love...or pay off some credit card debt. I'd spend it of course!

The first one. Love how the base shape echoes the paper pattern. And the brown shade is perfect for the space.
